Invest in You!
“Now may the God of peace— who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood— may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” (Hebrews 13:20-21, NLT)
To be the best that we can be, to let God do the work He so desires to, we have to first invest in ourselves so He can invest in us! Living in discouragement and refusing to dream and hope and prosper is just the poison the enemy loves to use to crush our growth and joy. In a world that is so negative and self focused, it can be hard to learn to love yourself and selflessly and let go into the arms of Jesus, but it is what you were created for.
I got to thinking that accepting the fact that Jesus loves you and is invested in you is not the hard part: it is loving yourself and investing in who you are alongside of Him! And that process that can be difficult, but today I want to remind you that the creator of this universe is invested in you and has created you for such great purposes. I don’t know about you, but that is the best justification there is to offer to invest in you too!
Stop treating your differences as negative attributes and realize they are the gifts that God has given you that make you unique! Understand that all true beauty comes from within– and even apart from that, you are beautiful! Please learn that a life lived where you are not in love with your Savior and not in love with who He has made you is not what you deserve. And frankly, it’s not what He wants for you, either.
These are truths I have to remind myself daily so that I can invest in myself and in my God. When we are not investing in ourselves, we are denying to invest in what God is trying to do in us. To that end, we are denying to take part in the most important relationship in our lives. Do not miss out on that because you are believing the lies the world and the enemy are spewing in your ear.
Hear me when I say you are beautifully and wonderfully made, purposed for a future full of an abundant life, reaching others for the glory of God. This world and the enemy has no power over you when you plant your feet in Jesus. The best way that you can invest in yourself is by listening to the truths God says about you through the Word and worship and tuning out all the other noise surrounding you.
Here’s what it all comes down to: We are children of God. Just like it says in Galatians 4, our sonship through what Jesus did on the cross allows us the power of the Holy Spirit. Isn’t it about time that we begin to believe in that power and start to move in it?!
Investing in yourself is key, but the only way to make a worthwhile investment in yourself is to invest in the Lord. Scripture says that when we cry, “Abba, Father!” that we transcend from slave to child. When we realize the power of the Lord is openly extended to us, we tap into something truly remarkable in our spirits. And the most beautiful thing? When we cry out to the Lord, that cry is heard over any chaos that hell can muster. It’s louder than any lie. It’s more powerful than any act of intimidation. When we cry out to the Lord, it summons heaven to our side and allows us to fight against whatever bogus scheme the devil has concocted.
But it all begins when we take the time to invest in ourselves and our relationship with the Father.
This is my prayer for you today, as you start your day investing in who God has made you.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NLT)
People are going to fail you. The world will fail you. Even the church is going to fail you. But Jesus will never fail you, and He gave his life so He could give you the gift of His unconditional love. Do not miss out on your story. You are a loved and adored child of the King. Live like it!
